Students:YOU WILL HAVE HOMEWORK. Most of your homework will consist of going to this website, going to the homework tab, and watching a video. The homework is called WSQ, which stands for watch, summarize and question. You will complete these assignments in your class notebook which I will provide to you.
Here is the basic format for WSQ homework (remember to write in complete sentences):
Watch- you will watch videos which will never be more than 10 minutes long. While watching the video you will take notes. Since you can rewind and pause everyone should have awesome notes (take good notes because you never know when you'll be able to use them on an unannounced quiz!)
Summarize- Students must then summarize the video in complete sentences using their own words. Make sure to include key vocabulary in your summary and what those words mean. Summaries should never be less than a paragraph. Remember you can pause and rewind so everyone should have excellent summaries! You will be able to use your summaries on unannounced quizzes.
Questions- You must answer questions on the content you viewed. Sometimes these will be done on the class website under the link for the video, or sometimes it will be done in class.
As Pre-Ap students you will be required to complete typed lab reports. Every lab report will be set up as shown below:
Independent Variable: What is being manipulated or changed in the experiment?
Dependent Variable: What is being measured in the experiment?
Problem: What are you trying to solve?
Background Information: What do you know about this topic or problem?
Hypothesis: What is your best guess answer to the problem?
Materials: List of all items needed to complete lab.
Procedures: Detailed instructions to complete lab. Someone else could read it and do the same lab.
Data: Observations, Table, Graph, List
Conclusion: Was your hypothesis right? Why or why not? What would you do differently? How does this impact society? Answer any lab questions.
